Hello everyone, in Te Maunga we have been learning about measurement. I learnt how to weigh using kilograms and grams. I also learnt how to measure using centimeters and millimeters. My favourite activity was growing in water, we measured the capsule and then it grew in the water so we measured the animal and saw the difference.
I am a Year 6 leaner at Paihia School in Paihia, New Zealand.I am in Te Ngahere and my teachers names are Whaea Bex and Whaea Chrissy.

Mind Blowing Science
Hello everyone, in Te Maunga this week we had a visit from the Northland Science Roadshow. We learnt about Rockets, spectroscopy and water testing. The rockets were fun, we had one that was full of air, one filled with some water and one with fire. I learnt that how much pressure goes in the bottle the further it goes. The spectroscopy was fun, we had a box and a CD and when we looked in the small hole it wasn't really a rainbow but when we looked in the big part it was a very good rainbow. The water testing was fun, we put drops of nitrate and ammonia in the water to see what one was good to drink, the clear one was the best.

Cricket
Hello everyone, in Te Maunga we have been learning about cricket. I learnt about batting, when you bat you go on your side and you have the bat behind your head then it can go far. We played non-stop cricket. The batting team has to line up and try to hit the ball far. The fielding team has to try and catch the ball and spread out.

Cross County
Hello everyone, on the twenty fifth of September Paihia School went to cross county. First we ran around the field, next we ran up the hill and back down, last we ran back on the field to the finish line. After the race I felt puffed, tired and hot.

Treasure Hunt
Hello everyone, in Te Maunga on Friday August 28th we did a treasure hunt so we could raise money for I am Hope which is a charity that helps people that are feeling sad. We had to find laminated gumboots and it had a number on it and whatever number it was we got a prize. The best one was the golden headphones but I didn't get them. It was so fun and helpful.
