Electricity

Hi everyone my name is Alana. On the 7th of November we did a makerspace about electricity there were 4 activities. My favorite activity was Lemon battery.  

The people in my group were Ella - Jane, Tiiria, Ashlyn, Amber, Mikaira, Jade and Azure.

The Things we used

We used four lemons, five alligator clips, one led light four nails and four ten cents. We started with the four lemons our teacher cut a little line through the lemons. Next we put the ten cents through the cut. After that we put a nail on the other side of the lemon. Next we put an alligator clip on the 10 cents and put the nail in the hole on the alligator clip. This made the led light turn on.

Sea life - T Shape literacy

Hi everyone my name is Alana I go to Paihia School. At the start of Term 3 we did a thing called sea and marine life. I did an animation and I did around 200 slides. My animation was about sea turtles.

Information about sea turtles…

Sea turtles are endangered because people are polluting the ocean. Instead of the sea turtles eating jellyfish they are eating plastic, especially plastic bags but we can stop that.

Sea Turtles eat: Sea Turtles eat jellyfish,clams and crabs and more.

Sea Turtles look like: usually sea turtles are green and brown.

Where do Sea Turtles live: sea turtles live in warm tropical beaches.

Hi everyone my name is Alana I go to Paihia School. On Wednesday the 26th of September we did a juicy experiment. Anika, Ashlyn and me were in a group. We designed something that could keep our juicies frozen. The materials were foam pads, cushion foam, tin foil, hot glue gun and polystyrene. Our juicies melted half way and stayed frozen half way.

Geometry DLO

Hi everyone my name is Alana I go to Paihia School. On the 25th of September we did a geometry DLO. If you don’t know what geometry is it is 2D and 3D shapes. I learnt that 2D shapes can make 3D shapes but one side open and they have to be 5 squares but not all of them work.

Time DLO

Hi everyone my name is Alana. I go to Paihia School. On Monday the 2nd of September we did a time DLO if you don’t know what that is it is what we learnt about time. An easy way to know what one is the hour hand and the minute hand is the picture down below.

Project Energize

Every Tuesday Whaea Gina comes into my class and talks to us about healthy and unhealthy things.
I learnt at Project Energize that there are 4 healthy food groups and they are fruits and vegetables,
grain, meat, and dairy.
One week Whaea Gina came in  and talked to us about takeaways.
Fat chips are better than skinny chips because the skinny chips hold more oil in it.
At Project Energize we learnt about healthy and unhealthy drinks.
The healthiest drinks are water and milk.
